Bharatanatyam as a close companion of Mr SREENIVASAN KRISHNASWAMY from the days of his schooling has fostered him as a Teacher, Performer ,Choreographer, Lyrics and Music composer,Cultural Co- ordinator and curator emerging as of the finest Exponent of this beautiful sublime art form.His initiation and basic grounding from young age in Bhartanatyam enabled him to give his debut performance (Arangetram) on 21st April 1990.Further had the systematic exposure towards Dance academics and the gifted opportunity to acquire training from Smt Thangamani Nagarajan ( an alumnus of the Kalakshetra as the disciple of Rukmini devi Arundale and Mylapore Gowri ammal) at Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya( a premier Dance institution Founded by Padmabhushan Dr.kanak Rele) during his Bacheolars and Masters Degree Programme . His passion for Rhythmic intricacies guided him to imbibe the nuances of Nattuvanar Kadirvelu pillai and Thanjavur kittapa pillai,the doyens of the Bharatanatyam tradition. Also his yearning desire to imbibe the qualities of expressive musical Abhinaya took him to padmabmvibhushan kalanidhi Narayanan to understand the innumerable ideas to perform the Abhinaya compositions of various composers in Bharatanatyam.
His journey in Dance and passion for sharing the knowledge gained through the years prepared him to get associated with reputed institutions, organisation's, International schools ,universities and Academies in India and abroad . His major prestigious Colloborations include Nalanda Dance Research center ( Mumbai), Podar International School(Mumbai),Indira kala sangeetVishvavidyalaya(Khairagarh), University of Visual and Performing Arts (Coloumbo),Temple of Fine Arts(Malaysia),Kalpakkam Dance Soceity (Kalpakkam),Alvas Education Foundation (Mangalore),Kaladiksha (chennai) to name a few.He was also Deputed as the Incharge Cultural officer/Teacher cum performer for the Indian Cultural Centre of the Consulate General of India (Reunion ,France) through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India. He is also the Recipient of the SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP award to outstanding person in the field of culture from CCRT(Center for cultural Resources and training,Ministry of culture of the Government of India) Batch year 2022 – 2023.
His deep understanding and training with immense love for Music led him to contribute to create lyrics and compose music for Bharatanatyam numbers especially invocatry pieces and varnams in praise of various Hindhu deities . His compositions and choreography performed by many a students of reputed Teachers in kerala have won accolades with state first
Awards in the classical Dance competition (Kalotsavam)organized by the government of kerala for many consecutive years. His creation of lyrics in Hindi and musical composition for “Dashavataram”,choreographed with the Faculty students of IKSVV university Dance Department for the Deekshant samaroh in Khairagarh is noteworthy.
Sreenivasan has performed in Nalanda Dance Research centre’s Dance Drama productions choreographed by padmabhushan Dr.Kanak Rele and also worked with many leading Dancer’s and choreographers.His top ten performances as soloist includes Mamallapuram Dance festival,Cuttack International Festival,Parthasarathy swami sabha 115th Dance festival(chennai),Cultural Festival of Indian and Foreign Languages University(Hyderabad),Radha Krishna Utsav(ISKON), Chidambaram Natyanjali Festival,Ammavari Karthik Brahmotsavam(Tirupati),Shantananda Navaratri Festival(Kualalumpur),Indian Dance festival (Coloumbo)and Uttarpradesh Day Celebration(Consulate General of India,Reunion,France). In all humility Presently associated as the Assistant Professor for Bharatanatyam (Senior Grade) in Saveeta University’s Liberal Arts and science college in the performimg Arts Department. Also as a Dedicated professional still imparting training to young budding aspiring and advanced students by encouraging their potentials to develop them optimally ,with genuine love,passion and commitment towards maintaining high standards and preserving the purity and classicism of Bharatanatyam.
